The Sonoma State University Sea Wolves compete in the NCAA Division II and in the California Athletic Association (CCAA), a conference that holds 145 national championships within its ranks. Sonoma State offers 13 different sports, five for men and eight for women. The men’s soccer team won the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championship, and the baseball team won the 2003 CCAA Baseball Championship. Both the women’s basketball and tennis teams have made trips to the NCAA finals for their respective sports in recent years. The men’s soccer team led the nation in home attendance in 2003 and the women ranked third. In 2004 SSU opened its new Student Recreation Center, a 58,000 square foot complex that includes facilities for basketball, volleyball, rock climbing, and indoor soccer. The gymnasium has also recently been renovated. Other facilities include a dozen tennis courts, a fieldhouse, baseball field, softball field, a track and field stadium, and a 25-meter swimming pool.

Sonoma State University is an NCAA Division II School. Teams compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Conference. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, and tennis. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and water polo. The sports teams are supported by a spirit squad, which includes a cheer squad and dance team. The team nick-name is the Sea Wolves.

p. Athletic facilities at Sonoma State University include a gym for volleyball and basketball, a baseball diamond, soccer and softball fields, tennis courts, and a pool. The university has partnered with several local golf courses for the golf team.

p. Among the championships and awards that Sonoma State University has received are academic team All-Americans in women’s cross country and an NCAA division championship in men’s soccer.
